KATHY RILEY

About

Having lived in Colorado since 1990, I focused primarily on murals and small art projects up and down the Front Range. Deciding to stay home with my kids and choosing to homeschool, murals were the perfect way to express myself through my art, meet new people, and help beautify their surroundings. As our kids are transitioning to college, it's allowing me to explore my art in fresh ways: smaller canvas paintings, teaching art classes, and larger mural works. Our home is just outside of Boulder, in Erie.

I was born in Miami, spent my childhood in Central Florida, and have always wanted to be an artist. Beginning a degree in Art Education at Abilene Christian University in 1998, I chose to put my education on hold and move to Colorado. After 28 years, I decided to go back to school at the University of Northern Colorado to complete my bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fall of 2017. I've been trading art lessons, teaching classes, and painting murals for the last 20+ years as I stayed home.

Influenced by my Cuban and British parents, family, gardens and bright colors permeate my work. Life, growth and change are reflected in my current work as seasons, experience, and a love for Jesus changes the way I see the world around me.
